We are closely monitoring recent events regarding the COVID 19 virus. The situation is changing rapidly and OceanRock are working closely with our school clients in conjunction with DofE and Public Health England’s guidance to best protect students when out on expedition.
At present all expeditions are currently running, however expedition formats may change or need to be rescheduled in the near future if events dictate.
We are stepping up our reinforcement of the need for increased vigilance regarding personal hygiene throughout each expedition. Participants during the initial briefing and at points throughout the course of the weekend are reminded, to wash their hands using their own provisions with additional water being made available to enable this. We will be further reminding students to make use of the wash facilities at the camp, to avoid touching their face, to avoid sharing food, or water bottles, and to ensure that personal care remains a priority. Hand Sanitiser is already a requirement on our equipment list.
Participants will also be encouraged to keep staff informed of any health concerns: including, but not exclusively, an increase in temperature and/or a persistent cough.
We encourage parents / carers to monitor school communications regarding the COVID 19 virus as OceanRock will be liaising with our school clients.
We will update this page as more information becomes available, in the meantime we wish clients, students and staff all the best at this difficult time.Peter & Rachel OceanRock Adventure - 16th March 2020
